An Electromechanical Countermeasure Dispenser (EMCD) can be much more efficient than a pyrotechnic dispenser.

MTL has developed a new EMCD concept and a chaff payload design to use with it.  The EMCD can be adapted to spaces occupied by current chaff dispensers or serve as the basis for a completely new dispenser.

The image on the left shows a concept for a module that can be inserted in an ALE-40 or equivalent dispenser instead of the 5×6 chaff cartridge magazine. The module itself is divided into 2 compartments. Each compartment contains an EMCD and each EMCD can be configured as a chaff dispenser or for the dispensing of another material or countermeasure device.

The early development work has begun with MTL working with a reliable partner.  There is an opportunity for potential users to join and shape their own requirements.
