Pyrotechnic chaff dispensers and the chaff payloads within the cartridges are highly inefficient and require the use of potentially hazardous and expensive squibs.

Mechanical chaff dispensers can be much more efficient than pyrotechnic dispensers, but current mechanical designs can be improved.

MTL has developed a new chaff payload design and a mechanical dispenser system to use with it.  The non-pyrotechnic mechanism can be adapted to spaces occupied by current chaff dispensers or serve as the basis for a completely new dispenser.

The early development work has begun with MTL working with a reliable partner.  There is an opportunity for potential users to join and shape their own requirements.
